You’re an expert in your field – but that doesn’t mean you’re an expert at writing. Over the last ten years, I have edited a slew of books by professionals who know just what they want to say but have never written before. Spending years building experience in your field might not have left you a lot of time to build skill as a writer, and that’s okay. That’s what I’m here for.
“Writing a book can be a daunting task, or at least it was for me. I was blessed to find Stephanie, who I believe went above and beyond in helping me write, organize, and bounce chapter ideas with her. It was nice to know that I could completely trust her and know the work was being done professionally.
I am beyond thrilled with the final product and I believe whoever is lucky enough to have her on their team will benefit immensely.“ Penelope Bunsen, Intro to Production Accounting: The Clerk |
How it works
- In our first call, you tell me all about yourself, your business needs, and the book you want to write. I’ll help you assemble your thoughts into a clear, usable outline with a good flow of content and all the details that readers will need.
- You use your outline to write your first chapter. As soon as it’s ready, you send it to me.
- I put my editing hat on and comb through your prose, smoothing it out and making sure it sounds professional, flows elegantly, and covers everything. I’ll also spot any missing pieces or sections that need strengthening. Because I’m not in your field, I’ll always be able to tell you if your logic is missing a step for your readers.
- We schedule a call to talk through your first chapter, its strengths and weaknesses, and the reasons for any changes I’ve suggested. We’ll also talk about your writing style, and I’ll show you any simple adjustments you can make to improve the flow of your writing.
- You either rewrite the chapter now or continue on with the next one. Expect every chapter to need at least two drafts to be ready for publication, but you can choose whether to revise as we go or to do a full revision when you have finished a draft.
- Every two weeks, we’ll meet for a call and review your latest work. I’ll guide you on what you’re doing right and what needs to change. And before you know it, your manuscript will be complete. Voila!
On average, start to finish, it takes three or four months to write a short e-book (about 15,000–50,000 words) and about nine months to write a full-length book (60,000–80,000 words). I encourage you to aim for two to three chapters per month, and our call schedule is set up to help you meet that goal.
Together, we break your book down into manageable chunks so the writing process doesn’t become overwhelming. And the fact that you always have another call with me coming up in the calendar will push you to stick to your goals and actually get your book written.
