Frequently Asked Questions
What do you guarantee with this service?
I guarantee a complete, high-quality, easily readable, well-written book that your readers will find compelling and enjoyable. I guarantee that you will be 100% satisfied with the writing and content of your book – because we’re not done until you love every page.
Anything you can’t guarantee me?
I can’t guarantee publication by a traditional publisher, best-seller status, or sales numbers, and neither can anyone else. Those are markers outside the control of any writer, editor, or coach.
How long will this take?
Well, that’s up to you. It depends on how much time you have to write, how committed you are to the process, and how long a book you want or need. Maybe you have plenty of time on your hands and you’re ready to fly through a draft, but maybe you’re fitting this project in around a lot of other commitments and you need a little longer. It’s fine either way – together, we’ll make sure you make it to the end.
Is there a limit to how much material you’ll edit for me in a month?
Unfortunately, yes – because I work with several clients at a time, I commit to a maximum of three chapters per month per client, including both new chapters and revisions. This ensures that the work I’m doing for you never suffers in quality.
I’m in a hurry – can’t I just write the whole book in a month or two?
I don’t recommend it, and here’s why: if you’re racing ahead, you won’t get the benefits of the coaching side of this arrangement. Remember, after each chapter you send me, you get notes on your language and construction and edits that help guide your next chapter. We might even realize three chapters in that your outline could use some revision – and if you’ve already written the next five chapters, all that work will be for nothing. If you’re happy to write a draft on your own and don’t need the coaching and accountability help, this probably isn’t the right service for you; you might be looking for editing instead.
I can’t afford this service, but I still want your help. Is there anything else you can offer me?
Absolutely. I offer an outline service (coming soon), an editing service, and basic proofreading for that final pass before submission or self-publication.
A book would be enormously helpful to my business, but I don’t have the time or desire to write it myself. Do you offer ghostwriting services?
I do indeed! Here’s the page you’re looking for.
Will I need to commit to a minimum number of months when I sign up?
Usually. Depending on the length and complexity you plan for your book, I’ll ask you to commit to a minimum of two, four, or six months’ work with me.
Do you offer a money-back guarantee?
Because this is a hands-on program in which I work with you in real time, I can’t offer money back on months we’ve already completed. But if you have a change in life circumstances or something else arises that will prevent you from finishing your manuscript, I will release you from your contract without penalty for the months we haven’t completed yet.
